Crafting world-class joinery for one of Australia’s most exclusive island homes.
RW Joiners were entrusted with the complete timber joinery for The House at Lizard Island, one of Australia’s most exclusive and award-winning private residences. This remarkable 12-month project demanded precision, innovation, and resilience to meet the challenge of its remote island location.
Our work:
Custom timber windows and doors—designed, fabricated, and finished to withstand the coastal environment.
Internal timber joinery throughout—tailored details that unify the interior design.
Spiral staircase framework—complex carpentry supporting the dramatic concrete centrepiece of the home.
Every element was meticulously crafted in our workshop, then carefully wrapped, crated, and transported by open-top barge to the island. This logistical feat ensured the highest standards were delivered, despite the project’s unique challenges.
The result:
The finished homes is a showcase of material harmony–concrete, timber, porcelain, and natural stone–with standout features including the faceted granite island bench, inspired by a boat hull, and the sweeping central spiral staircase.
